"...but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel,
so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.

We’re glad you stopped by!

We all were new, at one time, and we remember what it’s like. So we’ve provided the information below, knowing that it’s easier to venture into a new place when you know what to expect.

What to Expect

About 200 people gather at Greenbrier FBC each Sunday, and we have many volunteers working hard to make sure all visitors are welcomed and encouraged.

Our congregation spans a range of ages and backgrounds. The pastor and worship leader on-stage dress conservatively, but you’ll see people in the pews dressed in all styles—from jeans to business suits. Greenbrier First Baptist offers classic worship that features a blended style of music with both traditional and contemporary hymns and choruses.

Our worship service begins at 10:30 AM and lasts for about an hour. Near the beginning, the pastor will encourage you to greet the people sitting around you, but no one will single you out as a visitor. Also, while you’re welcome to, we don’t expect our visitors to give. So feel free to let the offering plate pass by when it comes down your row.

Kids are welcome to attend worship services, but we also offer a Children’s Church for children age 4 through 1st grade. A nursery is also provided for preschoolers during worship services.

You are also encouraged to join us at 8:30 each Sunday morning for coffee, juice, and donuts. Then, at 9:15, we meet in small groups based on your life-stage for Bible study, prayer and fellowship.

OUR MINISTRY VISION

We recognize that God wants us to gather to worship Him and connect with fellow Christians, to grow to be like Christ and to go into the world to make a difference.

Gather to worship and connect

The early church set an example for us to gather together. Acts 2:42-47 states:
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Grow to be like Christ

Throughout the New Testament we are told that we are to grow to be like Christ. 2 Peter 3:18 says:
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”

We are told in Hebrew 10:24-25 that one of the best ways to grow to be like Christ is through small groups:
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

We also believe that another way to Grow to be like Christ is to faithfully and sacrificially Give.

Go to make a difference

Because of what Christ has done and is doing for us, we are compelled to go into our world to make a difference. Jesus calls us to be salt and light in our world. He commissioned us to “make disciples.” We seek to make this difference in the community in which we live and then to expand it around the world as He leads us.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

We want everyone connected to Greenbrier First to experience:

• Regularly gathering to worship and connect
• A small group that is meaningful
• A desire and an opportunity to make a difference in our community and world
