About Greenbrier First Baptist Church
The world can’t give what God gives. God loves you and wants you to experience a full, free and forever life – a life of loving God, loving people and living like Jesus. We’ve all struggled with sin, spiritual doubt, and fear of uncertainty, which is why we’ve been sharing the knowledge and love of Christ for almost 135 years. Whether you’re new to church, new to the area, or just new to Greenbrier First, we want to help you get plugged-in and experience the transformation and growth that come from a real relationship with Jesus.
We exist to encourage all people to pursue a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ. Our history dates back to 1885 when a small group of people founded what was then Greenbrier Baptist Church.
We are located in Greenbrier, Tennessee, about 30 miles north of Nashville. We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Baptist group in the world and the largest Protestant denomination in the United States. We are also affiliated locally with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board and the Harvest Baptist Association. Here is a summary of our affiliations.

Our Staff
- Pastor Nathan: Bro. Nathan Washburn became GFBC’s pastor on August 21, 2011. Bro. Nathan is a native of Martin, TN. He previously served as associate pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS. He and his wife Jennifer have two children, Kara and Owen. Bro. Nathan is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis.

- Art Anderson: Bro. Art Anderson joined the GFBC staff in the summer of 2013. Art and his wife, Kelley, along with their two children, Austin and Courtney, are life-long residents of Robertson County. Art is an IT manager for the Kroger Company and has served various other churches in Robertson County as their worship leader.

- Donna Heflin: As Ministry Assistant, Donna oversees the office operation of the church as well as handling many of its business matters. In addition, she'll be the voice you hear when you call the church office. Donna has served as the ministry assistant for over 15 years. Donna is a Greenbrier native, and though she moved away for awhile, she's always called Greenbrier "home."

- Kelley Anderson: As Director and Principal of Mother's Day Out, Kelley has fostered many relationships within the community. Married to Art Anderson (listed above), she's been a life-long Robertson County resident. Her warm personality can put all at ease, and her laugh is contagious. Though she has served as the director of the Mother's Day Out program for many years, in 2024 she officially joined the staff.
